The Fat Controller needs your help...
Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller, needs your help at Minehead Station on Saturday 2 July and Sunday 3 July. Travel down in a train behind one of Thomas's friends, from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead.
Buy your ticket in advance to reserve your seats on the morning trains. Look out for things on the way down; there will be extra staff on the train to answer your questions and point things out in between you doing your Day Out with Thomas colouring activities. On the way you will pass the engine works at Williton and you will see one of the Friends shunting trucks at Minehead.
Thomas and his Friends will be at Minehead. Sir Topham will be there to make sure that all engines are being really useful and he needs your help to keep the trains running on time. Daisy the Diesel and many others will be there. There will be lots of things to do and watch, including free face painting, games and video shows.
Refreshments will be served in Mrs Kyndley's tea room, there will be free rides behind Thomas or one of his friends and you can watch engines being turned on the turntable. The Troublesome Trucks will be being shunted. The Buffer Stop Shop will be open throughout the weekend.

A special guest...
On 23 June 2001, another locomotive has been added to the list for the Thomas weekend. It will be Captain Baxter from the Bluebell Railway. This small 0-4-0T engine features in Rev W Awdry's book "Stepney the Bluebell Engine". During the Thomas Weekend the 1877-built Captain Baxter will spend his time at Minehead shunting the yard. Built by Fletcher Jennings & Co at Whitehaven, the loco spent its entire working life at a Dorking quarry until rescued for preservation by the Bluebell Railway.
On 23 June news reached us that it now seems unlikely that another special guest Fergus will be able to attend because some planned maintenance has taken longer than expected.
